Beeswax vs. Paraffin

Beeswax is the most precious and superior candle wax. In fact, for approximately every 75 pounds of honey produced by a hive, only one pound of wax will result! Made by busy honeybees from the nectar of flowers, beeswax has a sweet, subtle, honey like fragrance. It's also a 100% natural, renewable resource. The high melting point of beeswax accounts for its exceptionally long burning time, up to five times longer than paraffin. Yet the value of beeswax extends far beyond its efficiency, to matters of health. Being organic, beeswax produces a non-toxic, naturally aromatic candle. Paraffin, on the other hand, is a petroleum byproduct, which is not natural and is unhealthy to burn. Paraffin is actually the black sludge remains of oil refining. To prepare it for the candle industry it is chemically bleached, textured with a carcinogenic product called acrolyn, and artificially scented with floral carbons. You can rest assured that our candles contain no paraffin, are all natural and the healthy choice.

Click here for an excerpt from the 'Handbook of Toxic and Hazardous Chemicals' by Marshall Sittig. This article clearly outlines why we are against burning paraffin.
